Description

This course is designed to introduce undergraduate students to the multidisciplinary field of Gerontology. Substantive, conceptual, and methodological issues central to the study of adult development and aging are explored through collaborative learning opportunities. The reading material, lectures, and other course content will present a broad overview of the social, psychological, structural, and biophysical factors that shape the individual's experience of old age, as well as the consequences that an aging population has for social institutions. This course is cross-listed with SOCW 349. A student may receive credit for this course from only one program.
